The “Entrepreneurial Women In ICT – Enhancing Skills to Bridge Digital Divide” Erasmus + Project of Portugal and the project “Entrepreneurial Women In ICT – Enhancing Skills to Bridge Digital Divide” recently hosted their second multiplier event in Lisbon, Portugal in March 2023. The goal of the project is to address the gap between men and women in ICT and to promote entrepreneurial thinking, as well as the skills and opportunities necessary for success.
With still high unemployment rates in Europe, specially among young workers, the project aims to empower women by providing them with the skills and support they need to succeed in the field of ICT. According to Eurostat (2018), Portugal and Germany are below the EU average when it comes to the gender employment gap, while Spain is above and has a larger gender gap. Moreover, the working conditions for women are considerably worse than those for men, according to the OECD (2017).
Over 200 people (229) participated in the Lisbon event, which disseminated various Intellectual Outputs related to the project’s goals. The feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing appreciation for the opportunity to learn and network with other women in the field of ICT.
The success of this event highlights the importance of projects like “Entrepreneurial Women In ICT – Enhancing Skills to Bridge Digital Divide” in promoting gender equality in the workplace and empowering women to succeed in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
In the afternoon of the event, three workshops were held with 80 participants. These workshops provided a hands-on experience for students to learn more about ICT and to develop their skills in this area. The workshops were well-received by the learners, who expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals in the field.
